| Lily, Mommy, and Richie admiring our creation. |
Instead of doing a days-long paper mache project, we make our volcano out of some play-dough and a small Tupperware container. We really had a lot of fun with the project, and of course made sure it was an outdoor activity to save my house from the upcoming eruption.
I put enough sodium bicarbonate in the tupperware for the volcano to erupt periodically for years, I'm sure. Lily added a bit of red food coloring and after a demonstration (where they realized the explosion wouldn't actually injure them) Richie added the vinegar to cause the volcano to erupt- again and again until it finally started to rain and we were forced inside.
Daddy was home, too, so we made our Sunday Fun-day a family affair, and Daddy graciously took some video and pictures for me.
Next on the list- create a habitat for the new caterpillars we discovered in the backyard so we can compare and contrast the chrysalis (pupa) to our usual monarch variety- and just because it's so cool to watch a butterfly hatch.
