Man's Best Friend

My friend wanted her husband to start being more physically active, mostly for his health. He used to play sports in High School and has slowly just stopped participating in physical activity. It makes sense- as adults there are less opportunities for team sports, and where the opportunities exist you have to pay to play.

As their son got older, the two of them really felt like setting a good example of being physically active was important. Her husband broke out his rawlings trapeze glove and started to teach his son baseball. He bought an outdoor heavy bag and started working out on his own time. They even involved the family dog in activities with trips to the dog park. From what she tells me, the experience was positive for everyone. She noticed a big change in her son. He was watching less T.V. and spending more time outdoors.

Everything was really going great for them until their dog, Sasha, suddenly became ill. She stopped eating and just wasn't acting herself. When they took her to the veterinarian's office they found out she was diabetic. Everyone was really devastated; they nearly lost a member of their family. They were given lots of instructions and medications and the veterinarian suggested they feed her purina dm to help manage her diabetes. Thankfully, today everyone is doing well. Sasha's diabetes is under control and she's even well enough to participate in physical activity with the rest of the family.
